The Matrix has been a revolutionary film of our generation. Aside from the innovations used to achieve the special effects (real-time bullet), the excellent script and concept, the movie also managed to showcase a lot of gadgets. From blind design sunglasses to the trench coat and the cellphones-their cameo appearance all made a big impact in the set-up of the story, and in the market as well.
But the real beauties in the movie (in the trilogy actually) were the cars that were shown in the different scenes. They not only complement the scenes, but the production actually chose some pretty hot rides for the movie.
Take for instance the Lincoln Continental form The Matrix (1999). It made a brief cameo appearance toward the beginning of the film. The underground garage where the characters select a car is populated with Cadillacs, including a classic 1950s El Dorado and a prototype of the 2004 XLR.
Also, for the succeeding movies, The Twins' Cadillac Escalade EXT was not in production at the time of the movie's filming, so General Motors had to graft together fiberglass Cadillac parts with prototype Chevrolet Avalanche pickup trucks, to create the black truck seen in the freeway chase. And let's not forget Trinity's Ducati. What a killer, especially when paired with deadly tall leather boots and a leather outfit.
A true action movie indeed with all the elements-the hero, the kick-ass heroine, the nasty nemesis, and the rides. Yup, it's all in the Matrix. Open your Eyes.
